Hi there,
I wonder if some kind soul could let me know how I remove the donation nag screen after having donated. I may even have donated twice just to check if perhaps it only goes away after a certain amount is donated but still the screen is the first thing I see when running Rompr. It's getting tedious now but, if this was the intention then so be it as it's a great little program.

That screen should only ever show when you upgrade to a new version. How are you closing it, and what browser are you using?

Hi Mark,
I use Firefox and I close it with the appropriate cross in top right corner? I close the nag screen by clicking Ok at bottom right.
The donations were not very big but I wanted to show willing to pay for what is a nice piece of work.
I recorded a screen grab as a demonstration of the issue, it seems related to closing and re opening the browser so...pwerhaps cookie related (I delete cookies at shutdown)

That pref isn't stored as a cookie but it is stored in the browser's local storage. In fact the majority of rompr's prefs are stored there, and some are Cookies. I'd reckon that's the issue. Rompr isn't designed to work without cookies, and if you're clearing things when you shut down you will lose most of your preferences.

I don't know if Firefox has any way of marking specific sites as 'safe'? I can't run it here any more as it locks up my Mac every time I launch it. Otherwise yeah I'm afraid you'll continue to be nagged. It's a shame as I deliberately didn't want it to be a nag screen, it's only supposed to bother you if you upgrade.

Mark - feel free to delete this post. I have donated also. I use a lot of different browsers and devices and sometimes use incognito mode. I got rid of the screen by editing the server side prefs.js to add the version number. Eg. for 1.59.1

sudo sed -i -e 's/shownupdatewindow";s:0:""/shownupdatewindow";s:6:"1.59.1"/' /var/www/html/rompr/prefs/prefs.var

I don't have a problem with people doing that if you set it to the current version number. It's only really doing what the app itself would do.

Incidentally, you could use that trick to provide defaults for any of the options that are saved in the browser. They'll be overridden only if there is an option already stored in the browser's local storage.

Note though that some options are only stored as cookies and cannot be overridden this way. The skin is the main one, also I doubt that things like multiple players would work without cookies. I haven't tried it though, and I don't intend to :)
