We are preparing for a brand new design of GitQ and will open source after that release is finished.

There are lots of open source forum software you may be interesting, like discourse

If possible, would also like access to the source code so I can help contribute to it. It's a great project and I hope that after all this covid-19 stuff is over and everything is back to normal, this software will be able to become even better and possibly integrate with other apps. <3 @steveluo @zhenyuluo

Thanks a lot for your interests. But there is still no schedule to open source this project because some libs I used in this project are closed source and I still have no time to rewrite them. Also, I'm going to rewrite this project with React, currently, it is written by wicket which is Java SSR (server side rendering) framework.

If there is any feature you want, please just file a ticket here or GitHub.

We'll keep all discussions here, the rewrite will mainly focus on the frontend.

If the software does become open source I'm assuming that we'd be able to add gamification features to our own installs by coding it in? I don't have any clear idea so far. But for now, I think it depends, it's possible to add any features by yourself to your installations and we can also accept pull requests from community and then merge them into the main branch if we think they are valuable.
